The First-ever BMW X2.
Have you met the unique, exceptional and totally ungovernable new member of the BMW X family?
Launched in March 2018, this vehicle arrived at a particular urban moment. More than ever, cities are the engines of growth. From Shoreditch to Maboneng, the energy associated with a certain type of urban revival has driven the creativity that in turn generates the ideas, technology and attitudes that forge the future.
And this is the world of the first-ever BMW X2 – where conformity and timidness simply have no place. But rebellion is not so much about merely defying authority as having the courage and conviction to walk your own path when the old orthodoxies have lost their ability to guide. That’s why, for this new model, BMW has thrown away the rule book too.
Style meets substance
The first-ever BMW X2 is something new: a sports activity coupé, a new breed vehicle that combines the ruggedness of a BMW X with the sporting grace of a coupé. It’s clearly made for the urban jungle, but capable of taking you beyond its limits. The thing that strikes you, though, is its attitude – modern, bold and uncompromising. This one’s made for those who go their own way.
Its extroverted looks are made to stand out from the crowd. There are unmistakable design details that depart from the script. The first-ever BMW X2 turns the familiar trapezoidal kidney grille form on its head, broadening from top to bottom. BMW hasn’t ever done this before. The second eye-catching little detail has been seen before: there’s an additional BMW badge on the C-pillars behind the rear side window. It’s a much-loved detail of classic BMW coupés such as the 2000 CS and 3.0 CSL, highlighting the sporting DNA of the first-ever BMW X2.
Of course, there’s more: the squared-off wheel arches, distinct side skirts and large wheels accentuate the first-ever BMW X2’s low-slung proportions and sporty stance, and are beautifully offset by an elegant roofline, slick lines and slim window graphic. The new model even introduces new colours: available for the first time on a BMW are the exterior colour shades Galvanic Gold metallic and Misano Blue metallic.
The first-ever BMW X2 isn’t shy because it doesn’t have to be. It knows it can back its distinctive looks and swagger with substance. It delivers driving fun previously uncharted in this vehicle segment. Cutting-edge engines strike the ideal balance between sporting dynamics and exceptional efficiency, underpinning a new kind of urban experience characterised by class-beating handling qualities, exceptional agility and superb feedback.
The interior of the first-ever BMW X2 blends signature BMW elements with the understated ruggedness of a BMW X model, transforming the driver’s seat into an exclusive environment.
The first-ever BMW X2 connects with the real world the same way we do. Wireless Charging, Cruise Control, Real Time Traffic Information (RTTI) and Apple CarPlay come standard. There are also cutting-edge technologies to deal with everyday issues like traffic and parking. The optional Traffic Jam Assistant eases the driver’s workload in tedious stop/starts on congested motorways, and Parking Assistant is designed to automatically identify suitable parking spaces and even take over steering duties when it comes to particularly tricky parking spots.
BMW Connected and BMW ConnectedDrive Services are both available as an option, providing a digital bridge between smartphones and car, and delivering the next level of in-car personalisation and smartphone content integration.
